McDowell stages superb comeback against Woods

US Open champion Graeme McDowell has done Ireland proud yet again by staging a wonderful comeback against Tiger Woods in the Chevron World Challenge.

McDowell sunk a 20-foot putt on the final hole on the tournament to force a playoff with Woods on Sunday in Thousand Oaks (Ventura County), California.

G-Mac had clawed his way back from four shots behind Tiger Woods, who now remains winless for 2010.

In the playoff on the same hole, McDowell coaxed in a birdie from about 25 feet, and Woods missed a 15-footer.

Woods had never lost a tournament in which he entered the final round with a lead of three shots or more, so the win was all the sweeter for McDowell.

With Woods and McDowell finishing on 16-under, it was four shots backs to Paul Casey, one place ahead of Rory McIlroy, who closed his final round with a 68.
