Monty Python’s Flying Circus group have reformed (kind of) to make a new movie. Well, most of the comedy group – John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Michael Palin and Terry Jones will reform to work together again. Jones is adamant its not a Monty Python movie, but with the usual collaborators, we’re sure it will have an essence of the old movies.

Jones, who is directing the project, told Variety; “It’s not a Monty Python picture, but it certainly has that sensibility.” Ah but you can’t get all those lads back together and not be Monty Python, can you?

The new movie, called Absolutely Anything will also star Robin Williams as a talking dog. Let’s face it, that’s not even the strangest thing these guys have done. The storyline involves a group of aliens who come to earth to grant wishes to humans, just for the craic.

The Monty Python gang made five movies and worked for the BBC for five years on television and had their first sketch aired in 1969. Eric Idle, another member of the original Monty Python group, is still in talks over whether or not to sign up according to theverge.com. The only original member not involved is Graham Chapman who died of cancer in 1989. Mike Medavoy, producer of Life of Brian will also produce Absolutely Anything.

It is due to star Benedict Cumberbatch (Star Trek: Into the Darkness) and the very lovely Gemma Arterton (Hansel and Gretel: Witchhunters). We’re sure the group are looking forward to working with the fine lady…
