Mourinho attacks Wenger as Arsenal beat Villa to go top

Arsene Wenger has been given a special verbal roasting by Jose Mourinho, as Arsenal briefly the top spot in the Premier League.

Arsenal managed to out play Aston Villa and held on to a 4-2 win away from home which briefly put them one point ahead of Chelsea and Manchester United and kept Villa in the bottom half of the table.

But off the pitch, things weren't quite as rosy for the Gunners' coach. Already making the headlines after being linked with "glamorous French rap star" Sonia Tatar, he's now getting a verbal battering from that most special of managers Jose Mourinho.

Not known for biting his tongue, Mourinho has lashed out at Wenger's poor recent record at the north London club.

"He should especially explain to Arsenal supporters how he can't win one single trophy since 2005," Jose says.

The former Chelsea boss was fighting back after Wenger criticised the Real Madrid's controversial time-wasting exploits towards the end of Mourinho's team's Champions League match against Ajax that saw two players sent off - conveniently allowing them to be free of yellow cards once the knockout stage begins.

"Instead of speaking about Real Madrid, Mr Wenger should speak about Arsenal and explain how he lost 2-0 against a team in the Champions League for the first time," Mourinho continued.
