Hot on the heels of the very real hack that Burger King suffered yesterday, now companies are using it as a marketing tool.
Earlier this evening reports emerged that MTV’s Twitter account had been hacked. The name on the account was changed to 'BET hacked!!!' and the messages were tagged #MTVhack.

At almost the same time BET, a sister station of MTV, changed its name to 'Hacked MTV!' and began to tweet with the same hashtag.

The tweets were all far too good natured, and promotional, to be real ‘hacks’ and MTV soon admitted it was a stunt, but not before throwing in a mention of their own show Catfish.
Guess we better get used to this.
