Nicolas Anelka fancies move to the US

Nicolas Anelka fancies a move to the US once his contract with Chelsea expires in 2012.

Anelka’s brother and agent has claimed the French international will follow his fellow countryman Thierry Henry to the MLS.

If the 31-year-old sees out the remainder of his contract in London he will have spent 11 seasons in English football but a new challenge is what the striker will want at that stage.

Claude Anelka said, in comments reported by the Daily Star: "Nicolas told me he is interested in playing in the United States. We could see him crossing the Atlantic, and I'm serious when I say this. He asked himself what he will do once his current contract runs out.

"The US is quite something, and a dream destination. He says he will give it a try, even though he would earn less money than in somewhere like Qatar."

Anelka has been somewhat of a journeyman striker up until he joined Chelsea in 2008. The sulky hitman has played with no less than eight professional clubs before joining Chelsea.
