One Getafe player suffered a nasty injury to his testicle in their match against Barcelona

To say that Getafe defender Alexis Ruano had a bad night on Thursday evening might be a bit of an understatement, as not only did he see his side slip to a 2-0 defeat against Barcelona, but also broke a vein in his testicle somehow, and had to be taken off.

There hasn’t been a full explanation of what happened yet, but his manager Luis García confirmed in a press conference yesterday that he suffered the injury and that it “was nothing serious”. We’re not sure how many lads out there would agree with that…

He told the assembled media that “One of Alexis’ testicles was like this (holding his hands out to indicate a handball-sized ball). One of his veins ruptured…When I came in to the dressing room and saw it first, I was shocked, but it’s not serious. I’ve never seen anything like that”.

Marca have a video of the moment that Ruano went down, but there doesn’t seem to be anything in particular that caused it that can be seen in the clip. You can spot the player just left of the penalty spot in this GIF, and he puts his hands to his knees before collapsing to the ground in pain.

His manager expects him back for Sunday’s game, but if we were him we’d probably take a few days off, we doubt there are many out there who would begrudge him that.
