Pardew to become Newcastle manager within 24 hours

Former Southampton manager Alan Pardew is set to be named as the new Newcastle manager within the next 24 hours, according to the BBC.

Pardew was one of the bookies favourites to succeed Chris Hughton as the Magpies manager who was sacked on Monday.

The former Reading, West Ham and Charlton manager got the axe himself back in August when Southampton decided to part company.

Newcastle sources have said they want somebody with “more experience” than Hughton and that Pardew fits the bill.

It is reported that Pardew befriended Newcastle owner Mike Ashley and director Derek Llambias at an exclusive London casino where Llambias was managing director.

Reserve team boss and ex-Magpies striker Peter Beardsley is currently serving as caretaker manager.
