‘Penis biting’ allegations made against Australian rugby league player

There’s low blows and then there’s this.

There’s low blows and then there’s this.

Rugby, be it Union or League, is a tough sport. Players give, and expect to receive, a fair few hard knocks during the course of a game. A few things are over the line, like eye-gouging or tip tackling, but aside from that, pretty much anything goes.

We would have thought it would have gone without saying that ‘penis biting’ was also off the scale but it is being alleged Down Under that a rugby league player bit another player’s penis during a game.

Anthony Watts (pictured above), a former NRL player who now plays for the Tugan Seahawks in the Queensland Rugby League, is accused of biting a Bilambil Jets player in a most unacceptable place yesterday.

After a brawl, a Jets player dropped his shorts to show the referee what had happened after Watts had been near him but Watts’ solicitor is denying anything untoward happened.

Watts, “absolutely denies that any biting of any nature has taken place”, said Mark Williams.

“Now, if there has been any contact made to that particular area of this gentleman’s body, our client apologises.”

An investigation has been opened and video of the match is now being reviewed by the relevant authorities.
