One of the biggest and best stadiums in the world could be about to get even bigger and even better.
Of all the famous football stadiums in the world, Barcelona’s iconic Camp Nou is one of the last you’d think was in need of an upgrade, but it might be about to get one in the near future.
Late last year, it emerged that club officials were considering building a new stadium on a site that currently belongs to the University of Barcelona, while also weighing up a renovation of the current stadium as it stands.
It appears if as they’re going to go with the latter option and it’s not just a lick of paint the new stadium will be getting either, with plans for a brand new stadium with an upgraded capacity of 105,000 and the incorporation of a roof, with the end product looking a little bit like what you see below.

The plans for the Camp Nou were discussed at an extraordinary meeting of the club’s board this evening, with building set to take place between 2017 and 2021 using funds that “in the most part” will be from the club’s own resources.
A vote on whether or not to go ahead with the plans will take place at a referendum in early April.
Increased capacity or not, we reckon it’ll still be hard as hell to get a ticket for El Clasico in the new and improved Camp Nou, but it won’t stop us trying.
