Why has nobody thought of this before?
If you stayed up late last night you may have seen a cracking Copa Libertadores game between Brazilian side Flamengo and Mexican outfit Leon from the Maracana in Rio.
The game ended 3-2 to the visitors, dumping Flamengo out of the Cup, much to the dismay of the very vocal crowd packed into the iconic stadium.
Quite a few of the players on show were very familiar to Premier League fans, with former Manchester City player Elano limping off off early for Flamengo, a big loss to them. Arsenal flop Andre Santos played, and scored, for Flamengo while one-time Wigan failure Mauro Boselli was genuinely brilliant leading the line for Leon. He scored too.
But the highlight of a truly entertaining clash was this moment, when Flamengo forward Alecsandro had a clash of heads with a team-mate late in the first half.
Blood was pouring from a small cut on the striker’s head so a quick thinking Flamengo physio stuck a tight fitting swimming cap on the player to keep the bleeding under control until half-time.

Alecsandro re-emerged without the cap for the second half but we want to see this touchline medical advance rolled out in all sports immediately.
