Pic: ‘Devils in hell’. Manchester United’s woes made it to the front page of L’Equipe this morning

If the bashing Manchester United are taking in the English media of late wasn’t bad enough, now the French fourth estate are getting involved.

If the bashing Manchester United are taking in the English media of late wasn’t bad enough, now the French fourth estate are getting involved.

The Red Devils’ season hit the latest in what has been a series of new lows when the Premier League’s bottom side Fulham rescued a draw with a 94th minute equaliser on Sunday, a result which piled the pressure on an already uncomfortable David Moyes.

The performance, and particularly the over-reliance on crosses, led to a lot of criticism of Mayes’ apparent lack of tactical nous as well as the underperforming United players, criticism that is likely to be repeated if the Red Devils fail to get a result or at least put in a good show against Arsenal this evening.

The club’s current plight was illustrated on the eye-catching front cover of today’s edition of L’Equipe, which features the headline ‘Diables en Enfer’ (Devils in Hell), an image of a pained-looking David Moyes and Wayne Rooney and a sub-heading outlining that they are facing their worst season since 1990 and that their status as England’s most powerful club is in danger.

Will the headlines paint a more positive picture about United’s situation tomorrow? We’ll have to wait and see.
