Pic: Seamus Coleman for Premier League team of the season? He gets Ben Foster’s vote

And well deserving of it too. Wonder if many other footballers will follow Foster’s suit and go public with their teams?

With the end of the season fast approaching, awards season is nearly upon us, when the best footballers in the Premier League will be acknowledged for their individual efforts and fans will be up in arms about the selections despite the fact that they are democratically voted for by the players themselves.

It is somewhat refreshing then that Ben Foster wasn’t afraid to court criticism from his Twitter followers when posting his selections on Twitter earlier today, which will make pleasant reading for Liverpool fans and our own Seamus Coleman.

Unsurprisingly, Foster opted for runaway favourite Luis Suarez as his Player of the Year and for Luke Shaw as the Young Player of the Year, while his Team of the Season selection included Irish international Seamus Coleman alongside the likes of Yaya Toure, Eden Hazard, Steven Gerrard, Daniel Sturridge and the aforementioned Suarez.

On first glance, Foster’s selections are hard to argue with and hopefully after it gets a bit more exposure, more footballers will follow suit and make the selection process a whole lot more interesting before the accolades are officially handed out a little later in the season.

Agree with Foster’s choices? Is Seamus Coleman a dead cert for Team of the Season? Feel free to add your own thoughts in the comment box below.
