Definitely up there with ‘Merkel thinks we’re at work’ as one of the best Irish flags we’ve seen at a football match.
The fact that the game didn’t involve Ireland shouldn’t really matter here as judging by the picture below, the lads in question looked just as, if not even more enthusiastic than they would be at an Ireland match when taking in the under-17 World Cup Final between Nigeria and Mexico in the UAE yesterday.

The Irish lads – who we’ve since discovered were wearing Clare, Tyrone, Meath hurling, Sligo and a St.Brigid’s of Roscommon GAA jerseys – were given their moment in the spotlight when the victorious Nigerian outfit went on a lap of honour after the game, and if we’re not mistaken (and we definitely could be), they seem to be singling out the lads and the flag for special appreciation.
Here’s a better picture of the lads, as sent into us by one of the lads themselves, Conor O’Mahony.
Good work lads.
Hat-tip to Jason Boles for sending this one into us and to Conor O’Mahony, Kevin Higgins and Eoin Mannion for providing a little clarification as to the identity of the lads involved
