Pic: The inevitable Ronaldo not happy at Messi winning the Ballon D’Or image has surfaced

We’re not sure if Cristiano Ronaldo made this face at the exact moment Lionel Messi was announced as the Ballon D’Or winner, but we’re going to pretend he did.

Ronaldo had to play second fiddle to Messi once again for the most prestigious individual award in football, with the Barcelona genius picking up an unprecedented fourth Ballon D’Or after scoring 91 goals in 2012, a record for the most goals scored by one player in a calendar year.

In fairness to Ronaldo, in any other era he probably would have won many more Ballon D’Or awards than the one he has to his name (2008), but he has gone on record about his disappointment at not winning it on other occasions in the past and it seems as if he wasn’t too happy about not collecting it this year either if this picture is anything to go by.

Ronaldo is still only 27 so he still has plenty of time to win another award before he hangs up his boots, providing that Messi doesn’t pick it up every year, of course.

Besides, he can take some consolation in the fact that he was far better dressed than Messi on the night and when the ceremony is all over, he gets to go home with this lady…

Chin up, Cristiano, it could be worse.
