Picture: Why is Harry Kewell called Steve Coogan on his Wikipedia page?

Former Leeds and Liverpool player Harry Kewell would appear to be an unlikely target for a Wikipedia hijacking, but it’s a pretty funny one as it turns out.

The Aussie winger, who is still only 34 (we would have thought he is a lot older), is well past his best and is now plying his trade for Al-Gharafa Sports Club in the Qatari League, so in that regard he doesn’t seem as the likeliest target for a Wikipedia hijacking, which normally take place in the aftermath of a major news or sporting event, isn’t that right Gael Clichy?

The fact that he’s an unlikely victim doesn’t mean that we have any less appreciation for the work of the person who subtly hijacked Kewell’s page by replacing his name above hihttp://www.joe.ie/cmsadmin/cmsmenufrontendblogadd.php#s picture on the far right of his Wikipedia page with that of British comedian Steve Coogan of Alan Partridge fame.

We don’t think that Kewell bears any physical resemblance to Coogan – maybe a slight one when he grows his hair long – so the only reason we can think of for the link between the two is that there may now be a certain comedy value attached to watching Kewell in action.

A-ha indeed.

Hat-tip to Dwayne Halpenny for giving us the heads up on this one on Facebook
