Pilot gets his plane stuck in snow and closes Dublin airport…again

Dublin airport was plunged into further chaos today after a small plane got stuck on the runway and forced the authorities to shut down the airport for a minimum of one hour.

A small plane landed in an area of the runway that was covered in heavy snow and got stuck, forcing the authorities to take the decision to close the airport while they removed the aircraft from the runway.

All departing flights were forced to go back to the terminal, further affecting the plans of people trying to make their way home for Christmas.

Latest reports are suggesting, however, that the airport has reopened since and that flights are beginning to leave once again.

A passenger on an outbound flight to Birmingham said of the incident: “The plane I was on had pulled away from the terminal, but after a few minutes the pilot made an announcement that a small plane was stuck on the runway and that we would have to wait while it was removed.

“Initially the pilot hoped that it would only take a few minutes, but we were later informed that we would have to return to the terminal and that the Airport would be closed for at least an hour as a result.”
