Resident Evil to make sixth movie in franchise

Resident Evil spawns yet another sequel starring Milla Jovovich.

Director Paul W.S. Anderson and his model and actress wife Milla Jovovich will return to the Resident Evil franchise to shoot the next movie this Autumn. According to movie news site aintitcool.com, the latest film will aim for a release in September 2014.

The Resident Evil movies came from the popular video game of the same name made by Capcorn and was first adapted to the big screen in 2002. The five movies made to date include Resident Evil (2002), Resident Evil: Apocalypse (2004), Resident Evil: Extinction (2007), Resident Evil: Afterlife (2010) and Resident Evil: Retribution (2012).

The Resident Evil world surrounds amnesiac Alice (Jovovich), once a security operative working for a bioengineering company, Umbrella Corporation, and is now is the ultimate enemy of the corporation. Umbrella Corporation were responsible for unleashing the zombie apocalypse on the world.

The last installment, Retribution, took in $220 million worldwide at the box office, so we can see why they want to make another one. Cash cow and all that.
