Riot police join in with the fans in Argentina

Crowd trouble in South America is nothing new and riot police have their work cut out to keep order among the ‘passionate’ supporters. Unless they get involved themselves.

Nueva Chicago travelled to play Gimnasia La Plata yesterday in the second tier of Argentinian football and while the home side coasted to a 4-0 victory on the day, things were a little more fractious in the stands.

Riot police needed to be present in numbers to prevent things escalating ever further, though the picture below would seem to show one officer possibly getting his own back. Or maybe he is just moving the object in a forceful manner, we can't be entirely certain.

As the video shows, it took a while to restore order with tensions running high. Like we said, passionate is one way of describing this, hooliganism is another.
