Roy Keane nears Portman Road exit door

Roy Keane is close to the exit door at Portman Road following Ipswich’s 3-1 defeat to Swansea on Saturday.

Pressure is continuing to mount on Keano as Tractor Boys fans have begun to lose faith in their manager, reports the Irish Daily Star.

A club ‘insider’ told the tabloid that club owner Marcus Evans may make a decision on Keane's position before the weekend.

Ipswich had started brightly on Saturday, going ahead through Andros Townsend’s goal but three goals from Swansea put paid to their efforts.

“As much as we can blame individual mistakes I’m ultimately the manager, I pick the team, I brought some of the players in,” the Cork man told BBC Radio Suffolk.

“We can’t keep making these excuses and there will be a point where we say ‘enough is enough’.

“Eight defeats out of 10 is unacceptable for a top club like Ipswich. It doesn’t matter if I have a week or 10 years left on my contract, I do look at my position every day.”

Keane was appointed Ipswich Rown manager in April 2009.
