Is this the cheapest house in Ireland? If it’s not, it has to be close. Warning; it does need a bit of work.

Despite the enormous hit the Irish property market has incurred, the average Irish house price is still pretty high. According to the latest figures published by Myhome.ie, the national average is €207,000, a very hefty fee considering how wages have fallen and banks are sitting tight.

So maybe this property that has hit the market in Letterkenny might be more up your street. Thanks to the lads at Donegal Daily we now know that €10k will get you a two bedroom gaff in the town centre.

Okay, it’s a bit of a fixer-upper, but aside from that the auctioneers Sherry Fitzgerald Rainey reckon it’s a good deal. Though they would say that.

“It is an older style two bedroom house enjoying a town centre location,” said a spokesman for the estate agents.

“It is in a quiet area off the main thoroughfare situation yet is right beside shops, pubs, restaurants and churches.

“It would be ideal for non car users as most amenities and facilities are within walking distance.

“General refurbishment and refit is required to modernise to current standards, but the reserve price will be €10,000.”

If you fancy getting on the property ladder then head up, the auction is on December 1. More details on the place can be found here.
