Spurs leading top six-team race to sign David Beckham on loan

Tottenham Hotspur are currently leading a six-side race to land David Beckham on a two-month loan in the January transfer window and according to reports from ESPN, have already made contact with the midfielder.

England veteran Beckham, 35 is having discussions with MLS side LA Galaxy about a temporary switch to Europe to boost his fitness levels and keep himself in contention for Fabio Capello's England side before the MLS season resumes.

In addition to Italian and Spanish clubs interest, Spurs will have to fend off interest from Blackburn, Everton, Sunderland, Newcastle and West Ham United. Bayern Munich are thought to be another possible suitor as they wait for star winger Arjen Robben to recover from injury.
