Stephen Fry to appear in TG4’s Ros na Rún

English actor and comedian Stephen Fry is in the midst of learning Irish for a new role in TG4 soap opera Ros na Rún, according to reports.

Fry, a prolific tweeter, has been confirmed for a special role by the Irish-language station in scenes which will be filmed in Spiddal early next month, reports TheJournal.ie.

The 53-year-old has always had a keen interest in Irish literature – having already played Oscar Wilde in a biopic.

The Connacht Sentinel has reported scriptwriters have given Fry a small speaking part and that he will endeavour to work on his accent when he visits Galway.
