Swedish woman finds 16-year missing wedding ring wrapped around carrot

Wedding rings may normally deal in carats, not carrots, but one Swedish woman is celebrating after digging up her wedding ring, which she lost over 16 years ago, wrapped around a carrot.

Wedding rings may normally deal in Carats not carrots, but one Swedish woman is celebrating after digging up her wedding ring, which she lost over 16 years ago, wrapped around a carrot.
The missing wedding band was lost while Lena Påhlsson was baking at her home in rural central Sweden in 1995. She and her husband even pulled up the kitchen floorboards over the years in an effort to find the ring.
Lena had given up all hope of recovering her ring when she was harvesting the last crop from her vegetable garden last October. She had been about to throw away a very small carrot but then discovered her wedding ring on the top of the finger-shaped vegetable.
Lena and her husband are said to be delighted with the return of the prodigal ring but they have very different explanations as to how it ended up on the carrot.
Lena thinks it fell into the compost which was then used to fertilise the carrots, but her husband, Ola, says it’s more likely that one of their sheep, which roam around the garden, ate it and did their own bit to grow the carrots.
I looked and looked for it. The ring symbolised’s my and my husband’s love, she told a Swedish newspaper.
We pulled up to remove floor tiles, but it was nowhere. Then I thought that it’s gone. The ring will never be found, she says.
But during the 16 years that have passed, the wedding ring had become too small for Lena, and is now only on her little finger.
– I had given up hope. But now that the ring is found, I can make it bigger so I can start using it again, says Lena Påhlsson.

Then, in October as Lena was harvesting the last crop from her vegetable garden, she found a very small carrot which she was about to throw away. However, a glint caught her eye and she discovered her wedding ring on the top of the finger-shaped vegetable.

But during the 16 long years, Lena’s fingers are after getting a bit chubbier and the wedding ring doesn’t fit anymore. But it’s OK, they have a plan – she’s getting it widened and until then, it’s found a home on her little finger.
