The Beatles bite Apple to sell songs on iTunes

The Beatles will soon make their songs available for download on iTunes for the first time ever, according to reports.

Following a long-running saga between Apple and the music giants a common ground seems to have been found.

The band, who refused to sell their songs on CD until 1987, have finally agreed to allow digital releases exclusively through iTunes, the Financial Times reported.

Digital outlets have allowed fans to buy tracks for a fraction of their former price, but the Beatles would likely see a rise in sales if they made their back catalogue available to buy online.

The band's surviving members Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, and the widows of John Lennon and George Harrison, are reported to be ready to take the next step in the digital market.
