Today is Daffodil Day and while everyone will be in a rush on the streets today given the awful weather, don’t forget this worthy cause.
By Declan Whooley
Today represents the largest single fund-raising activity of the Irish Cancer Society and according to varying reports, accounts for somewhere between 10 -15 per cent of all income.
If you spot any of the good folks on the street selling their daffodils, braving the elements for this worthy cause, be sure to dip into the pocket for an issue that touches all families in the country.
Daffodil Day has been going strong since 1988, and the origins behind the name stem from a Canadian girl who started selling daffodils in 1957 as part of her fundraising efforts.
This video from the Irish Cancer Society was released yesterday and asks students from Trinity College what their idea of an Ordinary Hero means to them.
A nice touch for the day that is in it.
