The Manchester Evening News’ ‘101 Reasons for Wayne Rooney to stay at Old Trafford’ is pretty funny

JOE

Once Wayne reads this, there’s now way he will be headed to Chelsea, PSG or Barca, right?

We doff our caps to Manchester Evening News journos Neil Leigh and Peter Spencer who managed to compile 101 reasons why Wayne Rooney should stay at Manchester United and reject the overtures from the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea, PSG and Barcelona.

Some of the reasons offered up are quite good;

2: New manager, new start.

7: You said United needed to sign better players – they did and now the squad is arguably better equipped than it has been in years to go for the Champions League.

26: Do you really want the culture shock of moving the family abroad?

Some are a bit rubbish;

21: 75,765. That’s the number of fans you play in front of at Old Trafford.

39: Manchester is the world capital of football.

44: The untimely hamstring injury that has forced you home from the tour of the Far East will remind you of why United believe they have the very best medical team.

And some are hilarious, deliberately so we hope…

52: Talking of Spain, all that factor 30 costs a fortune!

59: Regarding France, I can’t imagine you outside some high falutin cafe, sipping a latte or espresso – anyway you can do that at Costa in posh Hale.

60: In fact, is having a croissant really for you? Surely  nothing beats the full English breakfast – complete with Bury black pudding?

90: Lou Macari’s chip shop. ’Nuff said.

And our personal favourite;

78: ‘Roo’ is a great word for headlines!
