Arsenal winger Theo Walcott has recommended that the North London side swoop to sign Liverpool’s Danish target Christian Eriksen, who starred in a midweek international friendly against England.

While all pre-match hype for England Wednesday tie in Denmark was centred upon Walcott’s teammate Jack Wilshere, the 19-year-old English debutante was overshadowed by Ajax playmaker Eriksen. Despite a 2-1 defeat for the Danes, 18-year-old Eriksen proved just why his electric talents have won a number of European admirers, Liverpool included.

“He has a good touch. You can see he is technically gifted, very comfortable and doesn’t lose the ball that often,’ Walcott said. “As for him coming to Arsenal, it’s a question to ask the boss – but he would be a great addition.”

Liverpool recently signed former Ajax striker Luis Suarez for a fee of £22.8m, after extensive scouting from the Merseyside club, who have kept tabs on the exciting Dane. Eriksen’s left-sided former teammate Urby Emanuelson also completed a January transfer window move, joining Serie A league leaders AC Milan.

“Every time Ajax play, there are clubs watching me. That’s just the way it is in Ajax,” Eriksen admitted. “So yes, Liverpool have probably seen me but I am not spending time wondering about it. I think I’m going to play in Ajax until my contract expires.”

Eriksen’s current contract expires in 2014 but it is thought that a substantial bid for the player would be enough to turn the Eredivisie side’s heads.
