While many parts of the country have been a bit of a wash-out today, Northern Ireland has been hit with heavy snow which has meant the postponement of tonight's qualifier against Russia.
By Declan Whooley
While the Russians won’t have been put off by what could be considered mild by their extreme standards, Windsor Park was covered under a blanket of snow after persistent snowing through the night and this morning.
The ground staff were busy today attempting to clear the pitch, but Norwegian referee Tom Hagen decided that it was unplayable, and the match has now been moved until three o’clock tomorrow, with a pitch inspection at 10.30am.

The extreme conditions are unusual for the home side, but this will all be water off a ducks back for Fabio Capello’s side who currently top Group F who have won four from four without conceding a goal.
