Lomalito Moala sure knows how to work the Scottish audience.

Tomorrow, the Commonwealth Games kick off in Glasgow and while for most of us the near two-week event is viewed with more curiosity than anything else, we reckon there is one Tongan boxer who will have a fair few fans on this side of the Irish Sea.

Lomalito Moala is Tongan boxer who is based in Sydney. The Lightweight won a bronze at the 2010 Games in Delhi and he hopes to go a few steps further in Glasgow this week. Ahead of the opening ceremony, Moala posted a tweet promising to don a Celtic shirt at the event if he got 100 retweets.

As you can imagine, he flew past that total in less than 40 minutes

About an hour later he posted this video to Instagram thanking the fans.

With this simple gesture, Moala has ensured a huge groundswell of support at the Games from the home crowd. Smart fella.
