Transfer Talk: Alexis Sanchez to Liverpool and Phil Jones’ face to Chelsea, anyone?

Who doesn't love silly season?

Tony Cuddihy

The transfer window hasn’t even officially opened yet and we’re already bored to tears of seeing the words ‘Bacary’ and ‘Sagna’.

Today’s instalment of the first official saga of the summer sees the French full-back linked with a move to Manchester.

However, in a (yawn) SURPRISE TWIST, it’s United who are chasing the 31-year-old as Louis van Gaal realises that Rafael is a bit of a nuisance.

Van Gaal, of course, is still not the Manchester United manager in what is fast becoming the second most tedious story of the early summer.

Onwards, and to Liverpool, who have joined the race to sign Wilfried Bony as a pretty handy back-up to both Daniel Sturridge and Luis Suarez. If he does move to Anfield it’ll be a case of third time lucky for Brendan Rodgers after the expensive failures that were Fabio Borini and Iago That Corner.

The Reds are also being linked with both Bayer Leverkusen’s young midfielder Emre Can and Bayern Munich’s Xherdan Shaqiri as alternatives to Adam Lallana. Oh, and Alexis Sanchez is being linked with Liverpool but we’ll believe that when we… actually, no, we’ll never believe it.

West Ham want to bring Aaron Lennon to London from London, and Tottenham more specifically, following the 27-year-old’s completely anonymous last season at White Hart Lane.

And Chelsea want Phil Jones.

Yeah. Right.
