Mignolet’s signing finally comes through but Liverpool are looking for more signings from Spain, Carlos Tevez is in Italy having a medical, and where is Edinson Cavani off to now?
Simon Mignolet is now officially a Liverpool player, after a long enough transfer saga saw him seal the deal last night to join the Anfield club. This obviously clears the exit path for Pepe Reina, who looks like he’ll be joining Barcelona with Valdes possibly on his way out to France there.
Speaking of Liverpool, Henrikh Mkhitaryan of Shaktar Donetsk has apparently not reported to pre-season training with the Ukranian club, in a bid to force a move through. But where is he going? Ah, there’s the rub. He might be off to Borussia Dortmund instead.
But it might not all be bad news, as they’re also chasing Barcelona starlet Gerard Deulofeu, along with Tottenham, and are trying to convince the Catalan club to send him to England on loan.
A fee has been agreed for Carlos Tevez, who will be on his way to Juventus if he can complete a medical in Italy today. The deal could be worth up to £27m to Manchester City, depending on his performance.
Cavani has been talking to the press about leaving again, but it looks like Napoli are the ones negotiating with Madrid, at least for the moment. They are looking to negotiate the transfer of Jose Callejon from the Spanish capital to Italy, and may form part of a deal to bring in the Uruguayan. Chelsea have apparently agreed a fee however, and Madrid see Liverpool’s Luis Suarez as a cheaper alternative to his long-haired compatriot.
Thiago Alcantara has repeatedly popped up on the transfer round up with news that he might be on his way to Manchester United, but Barcelona are hoping for one last and crucial meeting with the player and his representatives this week. They’re insisting that if he wants to leave when his release clause drops from €90m to €18m, then he or his new club will have to stump up the related tax, pushing his price up to €27m. Marca are reporting however, that Barca have no hopes of holding on to him, so either Bayern or United look to be his likely destination.
Arsenal fans should be worried about Laurent Blanc only getting a one year contract at PSG, as it seems he’s the stop-gap manager until they can get Wenger in next season.
Everton are motoring along in the transfer window for Everton as they look to beef up the engine room of the midfield by bringing in Keisuke Honda. The brakes were put on their Confederations Cup campaign a few days ago, but they looked very impressive against Italy, with Honda particularly impressive, we just hope he’s not exhausted after those exploits. Car..boot..football…pun.
Celtic’s Victor Wanyama looks to be on the move to the Premiership, as we reported a few times, but he’s not heading to Southampton anymore, as it now looks like Cardiff is his likely destination.
In a blast from the past, David Trezeguet could be on the move, after it turns out that he won’t be staying on at River Plate having returned to help them get out of the Argentine second division. He could be on his way to Flamengo in Brazil, while fellow Frenchman Louis Saha could be on his way to Nice after being released by Lazio.
