Jose Mourinho was busy telling anyone who’d listen yesterday that he was a big fan of Wayne Rooney, and hinted that they’re in for the unsettled Manchester United striker.

At this stage, it’s looking very clear that he’ll be gone come September, but David Moyes replied yesterday afternoon to let the media know that he still believed Rooney would be staying, stating “unless I was speaking Double Dutch last week, we said Wayne Rooney is not for sale”.

We don’t speak Double Dutch, or regular Dutch even, but we still don’t believe that Rooney will be at Old Trafford for very much longer.

Manchester City could be the next destination for highly-paid Swede Zlatan Ibrahimovic. He might be karate kicking his way in to Premier League, as it seems that Pellegrini has him on his list and wants to “swoop” in for him.

However, the deal to bring Alvaro Negredo to Manchester is also still ongoing, with a figure of around £25 million being bandied around the papers (Daily Express), and Pellegrini himself stating that they need at least one more striker.

Speaking of strikers, Aston Villa’s forwards are on the move with Darren Bent and Christian Benteke being pursued by a few clubs. Bent is on Newcastle’s radar, as Joe Kinnear apparently wants to get the deal done next week, so he can start making up a random name for him soon enough.

Thankfully, he won’t have to tackle the name Benteke, as it looks like his transfer to Spurs is becoming the saga of the summer. Tottenham are apparently about to table a £20 million bid for the striker, but Villa want more money. We expect this one to run and run.

In other news, Fulham has changed hands, as Shahid Khan took over the club last night, and we’ll have more on that later too. Nicklas Bendtner has been linked with a  few clubs recently, but he may be wearing his lucky pants in Hull next season if Steve Bruce gets his way. Gonzalo Higauin is supposed to be the next Arsenal striker, but that move seems to have hit a stumbling block. Tom Ince seems to have snubbed a move to Cardiff after the birth of his child, while the manager of his former club, Brendan Rodgers, has been stating that he’s in constant contact with Suarez to keep the unsettled player at Liverpool. And finally, Arsene Wenger has already held “positive” talks with the Arsenal owners about sticking around for another while yet.
