Transfer talk: Wenger wants to make Draxler the new RvP, Aspas out on loan and Ronaldo back to England (eventually)

It's all happening. Or not. But it's good craic all the same.

It’s all happening. Or not. But it’s good craic all the same.

The papers are going big with Arsene Wenger’s plans to turn Schalke’s Julian Draxler into the next Robin van Persie, though whether that means taking the 20-year-old ‘on loan’ for a few seasons before sending him off to Manchester is not yet apparent.

A fee of £35m might be enough to tempt the German side to sell their prized asset, who really is as good as the cognoscenti suggest.

On a side note, Dietmar Hamann feels that his old club Liverpool should try and get Draxler to become the new Steven Gerrard, but file that one under ‘never gonna happen.’

More on Paul Pogba now – whether or not Juventus are tempted by an offer of £40m from Manchester United, the Frenchman isn’t keen on returning to Old Trafford after being shown the door by Sir Alex Ferguson last season.

Liverpool fans haven’t seen the best of Iago Aspas. Scratch that. Liverpool fans haven’t even seen the moderate of Iago Aspas, and there will be very few tears shed if the 26-year-old ‘striker’ returns to Spain on loan with either Valencia or Real Betis.

Former Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon reckons that Cristiano Ronaldo will not finish his career at Real Madrid and will eventually make the move back to England, and presumably Old Trafford.

He’s quoted in The Sun as saying: “I do not think he will finish his career at Real.

“I feel that one day he will return to England. In Madrid, he is pleased with the city and the fans. But I think his relationship with Florentino Perez is not as good as it was with Alex Ferguson at Manchester United.

“Ronaldo loves father figures. With Florentino, he does not have that rapport.

“The relationship is bad or actually non-existent. He stays at Real despite the chairman.”

In other news, Belgian Steven Defour is not having a happy time at Porto and could make the move to England. Aston Villa are keen.

Rafael has said on Instagram that he’s staying at United, Lewis Holtby and Etienne Capoue are still being linked with moves away from Spurs, Cardiff want Ravel Morrison and (stop the presses) CARLTON COLE HAS RE-SIGNED WITH WEST HAM.

Once again, meh.
