The England manager really should have chosen his quotes about Wayne Rooney’s accent a little more carefully.
Roy Hodgson caused much tutting on Saturday night when he said that Rooney “is not the sort of person, with his Liverpool accent, who is going to be able to stand up in front of a lecture room of people.”
In retrospect, that was a mistake.

Wonder if Roy Hodgson talks about his wife, Sheila, who is from Scotland Road in such terms?

Roy Hodgson giving Rooney stick about his accent? A bloke that says the word ‘pwepawation’ at every press conference.
