Ulster come back to record a win and keep chances alive

Ulster kept their Heineken Cup chances alive on Saturday afternoon after coming from behind to record a home win against Bath.

After early tries from Bath's Jack Cuthbert and Lewis Moody, Ulster were trailing 15-3 and faced a serious uphill battle to stay in contention to make it through the group stage.

But an intercept try from Pedrie Wannenburg meant that going into the break they had the momentum and trailed by ony two points 13-15.

In the second half, Bath's Olly Barklay immediately extended his side's lead to five points. Fortunately for Ulster, Ian Humphreys did all that was required of him, with three penalties adding to his tally of two from the first half, and Andrew Trimble performed a turnover a minute from time, ensuring that Ulster could chalk up a much-needed 22-18 victory.

Elsewhere there was a shock 28-27 defeat by Aironi over Biarritz in Italy. This result, coupled with Ulster's win, keeps Brian Mclaughlin's men in with a chance of topping Pool Four, although they face a tough return game against Bath in Bath next weekend,
