LeBron James was up against his old side in what turned out to be a close shave for the Miami Heat last night and one Cavs fan tried his best to convince the King to come back to Cleveland.
After what was incredibly controversial move to the Heat in 2010 – what with all ‘The Decision’ business and all – LeBron wouldn’t exactly be universally popular amongst Cavaliers fans, but amidst rumours that he might return to Cleveland after next season, one fan was eager to lay out the welcome mat.
The fan in question, wearing a t-shirt that said ‘We miss you, 2014 come back’ approached James on court during the fourth quarter before being quickly escorted away by security.
The incident had little effect on James, who scored 25 points and claimed 12 rebounds and 10 assists on the night, inspiring the Heat to comeback from 27 points down to win 98-95.
The victory extended the Heat’s winning streak to 24 games and maintained hopes that they might equal or even surpass the longest winning streak in NBA history (33 games) set by the LA Lakers during the 1971-72 season.
If anyone can help them do it, LeBron can.
