It doesn’t look like a lot at first, but have a quick look at the replay and you’ll understand how Matt Buntine of Greater Western Sydney suffered a punctured lung in a clash with Carlton’s Levi Casboult recently.
Giants defender Buntine is facing two months on the sidelines after suffering a punctured lung and a broken rib after being flattened by Levi Casboult of Carlton in a pre-season NAB Cup clash between the sides last night.
Like we said, it looks fairly innocuous in real-time, but when you see the replay, you can see the damage caused by Casboult’s knee as he jumped for the ball and if that wasn’t bad enough, he fell on top of Buntine immediately afterwards.
There was no malice on Casboult’s part, but Buntine’s discomfort was evident for all to see and although he’ll be more than a little tender for a few weeks, it’s good to hear that the Giants expect him to return sooner rather than later.
