Poor Stephen Dunne won’t live this one down for a while, we’re afraid. Nice nutmeg all the same.
Harry Redknapp’s QPR side made their way to Lissywollen last night to take on Athlone Town in the final game of their pre-season tour of Ireland.
Keith Long’s side acquitted themselves pretty well but still ended up on the losing side as goals from Charlie Austin and Bobby Zamora condemned Athlone to a 2-0 defeat.
Zamora was obviously in buoyant mood as not only did he get on the scoresheet, he also pulled off a delayed but very deliberate nutmeg on Stephen Dunne over by the corner flag just after the hour mark and not even an attempted sliding tackle by Ian Sweeney immediately afterwards could spare Dunne’s blushes.
Nuts!
