Video: Daithi O’Se gets bamboozled by Eleanor Tiernan’s sausage gag

We’re not saying RTE’s Daithi O’Se gets easily confused, but if he missed the joke here his humour detector needs a tune up.

RTE’s Today programme is as mild-mannered as a sloth on grass. Putting the sleepy into sleepy afternoon telly, it usually passes off without disturbing anybody. On yesterday’s show the producers decided to jazz things up a bit by asking one of the stars of Irish Pictorial Weekly, Eleanor Tiernan, on as a guest.

Tiernan, being funny, should have been expected to take the piss a bit but her attempt at humour here passed completely over the heads of Maura Derrane and especially her co-host Daithi O’Se.

In fairness to Daithi, one of Tiernan’s brilliant fake news reports from Irish Pictorial Weekly (see below) is still posted up in lots of places as a genuine Irish news report so she has fooled others before.

Still, the look on poor Daithi’s face as he tries to work out what is going on is priceless.
