Video: David Ginola was caught making a very rude gesture live on BT Sport this afternoon

We won’t say what is implied by the gesture David Ginola seemed to make towards Jake Humphrey but let’s just say it rhymes with ‘banker’.

We won’t say what is implied by the gesture David Ginola seemed to make towards Jake Humphrey but let’s just say it rhymes with ‘banker’.

Some of BT Sport’s football coverage so far this season has been criticised for being a bit odd (football pitch recreations, Mark Halsey’s viewpoint) and boring (Michael Owen) but it provided plenty of entertainment for all the wrong reasons a little earlier this afternoon.

After presenter Jake Humphrey slagged David Ginola off for his choice of outfit ahead of the Newcastle v Liverpool game at St. James’ Park, the notoriously vain Frenchman indicated to fellow pundit Steve McManaman exactly what he thought of Humphrey in the full glare of the television cameras.

BT subsequently apologised for the gesture made by Ginola on Twitter and although he is still providing analysis on this afternoon’s clash, we wouldn’t be surprised if the former Newcastle winger is given a leave of absence after this embarrassing gaffe.

Incidentally, Steve McManaman seemed to be nodding in agreement with Ginola, while Hargreaves seemed to find it as hilarious as everyone who happened to be watching it live, particularly, no doubt, some Sky Sports executives delighting in their main competitor’s misfortune.
