Talk about your all-time backfires…
We really don’t envy Jon Jolley.
According to a story in The Metro, the football fan from Wrexham in Wales vowed to walk up Mount Snowdon if Brazil failed to clinch victory at this year’s World Cup. In fact, so confident was Jolley of the host nation’s success, he even promised to scale the highest mountain in Wales wearing just a thong if they lost.
But, after the samba soccer stars absolutely had their asses handed to them in a 7-1 defeat to eventual Champions Germany, the football fan’s dream of winning lots and lots of cash money was shattered, and his nightmare of donning skimpy underwear became a harsh reality.
Despite his disappointment, however, Mr Jolley kept his promise and scaled the 3,560ft mountain wearing just a thong which proudly displayed the Welsh flag at the front. Here’s what Jon had to say for himself on his Cancer Research Fundraising page:
“Several weeks ago I stupidly made the statement “if Brazil don’t win the World Cup I will climb snowdon in a thong. As you probably know by now Brazil were knocked out in the semi finals and now have no chance to win said World Cup.
After sobbing uncontrollably for several hours, I realised that I could turn this situation around. By doing the climb for charity I can turn this negative into a positive and become the first man to climb the mountain in a thong (I think).”
Fair play Jon, fair play. Dat ass tho…
