Video: How the hell did that not go in? Crazy Conference goalmouth scramble from the weekend

Ah here, seriously, how in the name of God did the ball not cross the line here? Stockport County, ye are blessed.

Ah here, seriously, how in the name of God did the ball not cross the line here? Stockport County, ye are blessed.

We’ve professed our love for the phenomenon known as the almighty goalmouth scramble in the past; pretty and technical it ain’t but it’s hard beat for entertainment and edge of the seat excitement.

Traditionally, the scramble involves the defending team enjoying an awful lot of luck in their quest to keep the ball out of the goal and you won’t find a team luckier than Stockport County when keeping Histon scoreless at the weekend.

The Stockport defenders and ‘keeper didn’t seem to have a clue how they managed to keep the ball out at certain stages and when they were beaten, they had the crossbar on hand to help them on their way to a 1-0 victory.

In fairness, if the ball didn’t go in as a result of that attack, it was never going to go in for Histon even if the game lasted all night.
