Video: Julio Baptista presented to the fans – from armoured car

When we think of clubs presenting big-name signings to the fans, we instinctively think of Real Madrid and their glitzy events. This presentation of former Arsenal striker Julio Baptista is not cut from that cloth.
First of all, many Gunners supporters may well argue that ‘The Beast’ isn’t even a big-name signing, but he is a big deal for his new club Cruzerio. The Brazilian club were delighted to announce the capture of the striker who left Malaga last week, but arriving in an armoured car was a little strange to say the least.
We know security is an issue in South America, but it is only Baptista. In fact the only problems we would have thought could have stemmed from disgruntled home supporters, but they looked pleased to have the former Seville and Roma front man, turning up in large numbers to welcome him to his new club.
Then again, with a nickname like his, maybe Cruzerio felt they had little choice.
