Did you stay up to watch Miami Heat clinch their second successive NBA title last night? If not, you missed a cracking game, an outstanding LeBron performance and a brilliant interview by the King afterwards.
For the second year in a row, James was voted as MVP for the NBA Finals as he and his teammates recorded a 95-88 victory over the San Antonio Spurs in Miami last night to take the series 4-3 and consolidate their position as the best team in the NBA right now.
As has often been the case in recent years it was a case of cometh the hour, cometh the man as LeBron starred with 37 points and 12 rebounds in a display that merited the MVP award bestowed on him once all was said and done.
As well as commending the Spurs for putting up a fierce challenge, LeBron rounded on his critics in an emotional interview afterwards, the highlight of which was when he said: “I’m LeBron James, from Akron, Ohio, from the inner city, I’m not even supposed to be here.”
Stirring stuff.
We guess those new Nike shoes weren’t so premature after all, wha?
