Video: Look what the wind did to this kick-out during a League Two game on Saturday

Play with it there lads, it’s guaranteed to die down in the second half.

Play with it there lads, it’s guaranteed to die down in the second half.

Playing any sort of ball sport in windy conditions can be tough, but as far as Gaelic Football or soccer is concerned, the player most affected is often the goalkeeper, who has to try and kick the ball out into the teeth of the wind or try and catch high balls that are almost impossible to judge in the conditions.

When taking a kick-out against the wind, the best practise is to go for as low a trajectory as possible to limit the influence of the breeze, but Newport County ‘keeper Lenny Pidgeley failed to heed that advice in a League Two clash against Bristol Rovers at the weekend.

Pidgeley’s kick-out looked to be well-struck but got caught up in the wind immediately and the Newport players were powerless to stop it as it turned around and bounced out for a corner at the same end that Pidgeley had just kicked it from.

Don’t get too down on yourself Lenny, we’ve seen worse…
