He ended up with a hat-trick against Scotland in a 6-1 trouncing and while his second and third goals weren’t bad, his first was outrageous.

It appears as if every Dutch player worth his salt is being linked with a move to Manchester United since Louis van Gaal took over as manager, but one of those reported targets, FC Twente’s Quincy Promes, showed last night why there might be legitimate reasons for interest from United after all.

The 22-year old shone brightly as the Holland under-21 side blitzed their Scottish counterparts, scoring three goals before half-time in a comprehensive 6-1 victory.

You can see all three goals in the video above, but pay particular attention to the first one, where he bamboozles the Scottish defence with two successive drags of the ball with his right foot before finishing powerfully with the left.

Promes may or may not end up signing for Manchester United in the near future, but he looks like one to keep an eye on all the same.

Hat-tip to Daniel Donegan for the heads up on this one
