Video: Michael Murphy, Alan Dillon, Karl Lacey, Dessie Dolan and Michael Meehan are far better footballers than they are actors

Some of Ireland’s best Gaelic Footballers from west of the Shannon took part in a promotional video for Ireland West Airport lately and as these outtakes illustrate, Hollywood won’t be calling anytime soon.

Donegal duo Michael Murphy and Karl Lacey, Mayo’s Alan Dillon, Michael Meehan of Galway and Dessie Dolan of Westmeath all gathered in Ireland West Airport in Mayo recently for a video entitled ‘It’s About Community’ to help promote an airport that provides flights to a wide range of destinations throughout Europe.

While all of them manage to look relatively convincing in the final edit, it obviously took a hell of a long time to get to that stage if the outtakes are anything to go by and although it might be a bit harsh to single out Alan Dillon above the rest, it was he who seemed to most suffer from a fit of the giggles while facing the camera.

In that regard, he could have been following the lead of Andy Moran, whose award-worthy performance in front of the camera last year has unfortunately been removed from YouTube although in both Mayo men’s defence, we don’t think any of the lads will be troubling Leonardo di Caprio come Oscar season either.

All in all, the lads were doing their bit to promote local tourism and seemed to be having a great laugh while they were at it and we’re sure they won’t mind us all having a little laugh at their expense.

Funny stuff.
