Last night’s NextGen Series win for Aston Villa was great news for Ireland. The Villa team had five Irish players in their starting XI, while another was on the bench. Yet more, like top scorer Michael Drennen, wasn’t even in the squad because of injury.

Anyway, the Birmingham side won the most prestigious prize in European academy soccer last night, 2-0, with both goals penalties converted by young Dub Graham Burke.

But the highlight, or low light, was this ridiculous attempt by Chelsea's Alex Kiwomya to win a penalty. As dives go, it was shocker by the young man.

Where’s Ray Wilkins to shout ‘stay on your feet’ at him?
