The limousine carrying US President Barack Obama got stuck in the entrance to the American Embassy in Ballsbridge, Dublin 4 this afternoon.

Obama touched down at Dublin Airport this morning for the beginning of a 24-hour whistle-stop tour of his, um, ancestral home.

After a quick visit to the Phoenix Park, where he called in to President Mary McAleese, planted a tree in the grounds of Áras an Uachtaráin, had a chat with An Taoiseach Enda Kenny and brandished a hurley with the venomous smile of his possible long-distance relatives in the Offaly full back line, Obama headed across the capital for a courtesy call at the embassy.

However, it was there that his trip momentarily came to a grinding halt – as this video shows.

When he finally got back on the road, the Yes-We-Can-Man travelled to Moneygall in Co Offaly, the village of his great-great-great-grandfather Falmouth Kearney, who left Ireland for Ohio in 1850.

If you want to know more about Obama’s Irish heritage, we have the lowdown over here.
