We never tire of watching Simon Cox’s wonder goal earlier this season and his goal against Birmingham has been shortlisted for Goal of the Year 2012.

Soccer AM and The Football League have teamed up for their shortlist of their Goal of the Year for 2012 and the 25 year-old has made the cut.

All 10 entries are excellent and worthy efforts, but Cox’s sublime bit of skill against Birmingham gets our vote every day of the week. For the immaculate first touch to control the pass, the second to put the ball past the keeper, for the way he did it all on the run and most importantly, because we’re bias.

It wasn’t the only screamer he got in 2012, with this long range effort against Wigan in the Capital One Cup another collector’s item.

He may struggle to show his best form on the wing in a green jersey, but has shown glimpses of what he can do when played in his more natural position of centre-forward.
